Old 86 was born in the Summer of 2007, and since then the members have been constantly honing their live show, which ventures from zydeco-influenced 50's rock to low down blues to intense psychedelia that has been known to blow minds. Whether it is the hard-rocking keys and drumming of Joe Macphail, the funky rhythms of bassist Neal Dempsey, the smooth saxophone and violin of Mie Hirschfield, or the dual-guitar attack of Daniel Fields and Chris Brown, their music is guaranteed to be what former Squirrel Nut Zipper Tom Maxwell calls "a damn good time". Old 86 has played on WUNC's The State of Things, and have played the popular local club "The Cat's Cradle" on several occasions. They are constantly improving, so every time you see them will be even better than the last.

HOLY SMOKES you tender ones!!! Not only are you playing the Cradle AGAIN (so deserved, great performances), you're opening for a $20/$23 ticket!!! I'd say you're arriving. Congratulations!!!!!
Have we nailed down a date yet for recording? I have been out of town and rarely manage to sign on to myspace anymore. Can't wait to start rocking the next album- m
Very awesome show tonight at The Cave, guys! -Love the new pieces! Old 86 is causing a bit of a nice ripple in the fabric of local music.
Did you tell me y'all are lining up a show for November 20(?) at Broad Street Cafe? The 20th is a Friday night, and I was thinking it was going to be a weeknight, like Tuesday or Thursday, maybe, 10pm.
Old 86! Thanks for being a friend. Please take the time to check out the Studio's bands on our playlist. Use the links to check out the band's pages. Do what you you can for your local scene. You are the people that make the music scene happen! Tell me what you think!
Many thanks! (which of the Old 86 "I"'s is writing?)
Also, I thought of y'all as I was pre-recording a WUNC segment for
tomorrow's TSOT, and y'all's spotlight many months earlier! I wanted
so much to have time to get to the question about favorite groups. Old
86 was on the short list, for sure! I was hoping we could close the
segment by my reading a LONGGGGGG list of my favorite groups. After
10-15 seconds of name afer name after name, they'd slowly fade. I
forgot to mention that though.
You bet your booties I'll be there! I'll be the one up front, wild-eyed and boppdancing, trying to hide behind a camera in my face. But [grin] you knew that already.
And cd? No, I don't have one yet. Mega-thanks!
Y'all are playing at a venue many MANY bands would CRY to be invited to. Congratulations! It's so well-deserved. Old 86 will be in their element, in one of your finest hours.
Grab yer dancin' shoes and come enjoy some funky blues rock with Me & My Monkey on Saturday, April 4th at Brewballs in Burlington. Back with new tunes, a new drummer, and tighter music than ever!
Same to you guys. I'll be up your way over spring break on a couple college visits, and I'm sure I'll have my bass with me, so if you want to play some music, let me know. -Lucas
Hi guys! -Dropping by to play a few songs and to see if there's any news to report, any blogs I missed, upcoming shows posted, etc. Have a good Thanksgiving with your families!
