Bio:

Adam Tendler is a pianist, composer, writer, and teacher, celebrated for his uncompromising recital programming, innovative teaching style, unapologetic literary voice, and bold original compositions. Upon early graduation with distinction from Indiana University School of Music, Tendler immediately began co-authoring a second edition of The History of American Classical Music by John Warthen Struble, forwarded by Philip Glass, an assignment that led to his conception of America 88x50, an unprecedented experiment in grassroots recital touring, during which Tendler took to the highways of America and independently presented free lecture-recitals of modern American music for underserved communities in all fifty states (www.america88x50.com). After completing the tour, Tendler was invited to Houston, TX, to serve as the Artistic Director of the Foundation for Modern Music, a nonprofit supporting the work of living composers, during which time he also directed the music program of an inner-city arts and advocacy center, and contributed regularly to both Houston and National Public Radio as a new music ambassador and liaison. ..
