Kate is a native Californian who has spent many years as a welcome member of the most respected songwriter circles in Nashville and Los Angeles. Known for her remarkable voice and songs that are full of passion and honesty, Kate is a great representative of “music that matters.” She has provided music and recordings for any number of causes and crusaders-- including Planned Parenthood, Eugene Mc Carthy, Antonio Villaraigosa, Arlington West, Veterans for Peace, homeless shelters (where she has also taught songwriting), federal and state prisons, and environmental coalitions in CA and TN-- and the list goes on.
Kate has been the New Folk winner at both the Napa Folk Festival and the Sierra Folk Festivals. She has been a main stage performer at the Kerrville Folk Festival since 1993, the Bliss Festival in MI, Wildflower in TX, was a Showcase artist at the 2006 Far West Folk Alliance Conference, and has played most of the great clubs throughout the country such as the Bluebird Café in Nashville, the Troubadour in Los Angeles, Club Passim in Boston and Fiddler’s Green in Atlanta. Kate has produced, recorded and released four CDs: “Kate Wallace” on the Honest label (from which came three music videos that were in steady rotation); “Two Lane America”, “Too Long From the Sea” and the newly released "Politics and Religion" on her own New Pair O’ Dimes label.
Her songs have been recorded by famous and infamous artists alike, she’s recorded sound tracks for major movies, been featured in two different books on songwriters, been on numerous television shows including Music City Tonight, she’s won the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Award for her song “Going Through the Emotions and she’s sung back up vocals for favorites including John Stewart, Peter Gallway, Tom Kimmel, Michael Lille and David West.
She lives in Santa Barbara, CA, currently, where she continues to travel, play, write, record, teach and generally experience/ pass on the joy of music in every way. She also books the popular acoustic music series, Trinity Backstage and has recently finished producing a new compilation CD for Jubilee Economic Ministries called "Artists for Change" featuring many of singer/songwriter friends like Greg Greenway, Caren Armstrong, Michael Lille johnsmith, and Sally Barris.
