Bio:

I am very lucky to have a varied career playing in venues as both soloist, chamber musician, composer and improviser. I studied as an undergraduate and postgraduate at The Royal Academy of Music, London. I then went on to continue my studies at The Eastman School of Music in the USA with Professor Steven Doane. I am passionate that music and the cello shouldn’t be put into boxes and I have recorded for musicians such as Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Bjork , Madonna, Terence Blanchard and Vince Mendoza while simultaneously enjoying a career giving classical recitals at venues such as The Purcell Room, St Martin in The Fields, The National Theatre, Riverhouse Arts Centre and St James Piccadilly. In 2004 I set up a music project for The Mehli Mehta Foundation in Mumbai, India which continues to run to this day. As a composer and improvising cellist, I work in the Attab Haddad Ensemble which is a fusion of Iraqi and flamenco music . I also collaborate with contemporary dance companies such as Aranaea and Pairdance fusing the essences of cello performance and dance. My debut cd,'Anima Rising' is availabe to purchase from ASC records at www.ascrecords.com and is a journey through some of the many different genres of cello music-Classical,contemporary,avant guarde and my own composition.
